Place your bid to win this original, vintage 1970 photograph, Carly on the Commune signed by her brother and photographer, Peter Simon!
In the fall of 1970, singer Carly Simon visited her brother Peter Simon, a photographer, at his commune in Vermont. While she was there, they tried any number of times to find "the perfect shot" for her upcoming self-titled debut album, to be released on Electra Records in February 1971. The record would include Simon's first Top 10 hit, "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be", which earned her a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1972. Somehow, the combination of her dress, the background, and the subtle lighting was perfect. The resulting images were Peter’s all-time favorite shots of her.
The photograph itself is 13" X 15" and mounted on foam board. Peter wrote his name and the date as well as the name of the image "Carly on the Commune" on the front of the image.
