John McCormick is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hedge Fund Solutions Group. He is involved in overseeing the day-to-day activities of the group, including investment management, client relationships, product development, marketing, operations and administration. Before joining Blackstone in 2005, Mr. McCormick was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company, where he worked on senior level strategy issues for a wide variety of financial services industry clients. Mr. McCormick began his career as an attorney with Davis Polk & Wardwell and has also served at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Scott Soussa is a Senior Managing Director of The Blackstone Group and Head of the Hedge Fund Solutions Group’s Strategic Capital Group, which includes the hedge fund seeding and GP stakes businesses. Previously, Mr. Soussa was Head of Due Diligence in the Hedge Fund Solutions Group where he led a cross-functional team charged with evaluating and monitoring underlying hedge fund managers, which encompassed front office, business and operational, risk management and legal due diligence. He is also a Co-Founder and the Chairman of the Board of Michael’s Mission, a non-profit focused on focused on improving the quality of life and treatment options for those suffering from colorectal cancer through education, research and patient support.
Andrew Rabinowitz joined Marathon in 2012 and manages Marathon's day-to-day activities, oversees setting global policies/ procedures, financial controls, external code of conduct and assisting on business development, as well as leads the Investor Relations and Client Services team and monitors Marathon's third-party relationships with external service providers. Before Marathon, Mr. Rabinowitz practiced law with Schulte Roth & Label where he specialized in hedge funds and asset management. Before that, Mr. Rabinowitz worked as a CPA at Ernst & Young and focused on broker-dealers, hedge funds, and asset management. He is also one of the Co-Founders and Co-Presidents of the R-Baby Foundation, a non-profit that has raised over $11 million towards critical improvements in pediatric emergency education, training and equipment. Together, these three men have years of combined experience in the financial industry and they are willing to share their knowledge and expertise with you and a guest over lunch.
Jeff Jacob is a Senior Managing Director at Marathon, Co-Head of Marathon’s Corporate Credit business, and a Member of the Executive Committee. Mr. Jacob serves as Portfolio Manager for Marathon’s distressed and special situations portfolios. He joined Marathon after eight years with Archview, a credit manager founded in 2009, where he served as CIO and co-Managing Partner since its inception. Prior to founding Archview, he was a founding member and Head of Citigroup’s Global Special Situations Group, a principal investment group managing $3.7 billion in assets in North America, Latin America, and Europe from 2004 to 2008. He was previously Head of Citigroup’s Distressed Debt Trading Group from 1999 to 2004. While at Citigroup, he served on the Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodity Management Committee and the Fixed Income Diversity Committee. Prior to joining Citigroup, he spent seven years at Merrill Lynch where he was Head of Distressed Trading and ran the Southeast Asia Distressed Trading business from Merrill Lynch’s offices in Hong Kong. He holds an M.S. in Finance and a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Wisconsin.
