A 6-time GRAMMY® winner, Emmy winner, humanitarian, singer, songwriter and producer, Ziggy Marley has released 18 albums to much critical acclaim. His early immersion in music came at age ten when he sat in on recording sessions with his father, Bob Marley. As front man to Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers, the group has released ten live and studio albums, three of which became GRAMMY-winners with such chart-topping hits as "Look Who’s Dancing," "Tomorrow People" and "Tumbling Down."
Then, in an effort to pursue his own creative endeavors, 2003 saw the launch of Ziggy's solo career with the release of Dragonfly (RCA Records). His second solo effort, Love Is My Religion (Tuff Gong Worldwide), won a GRAMMY in 2006 for Best Reggae Album, as did the subsequent release of Family Time (Tuff Gong Worldwide) in 2009 for Best Children's Album. 2011's Wild and Free was also nominated for Best Reggae Album, the same year in which Ziggy debuted his first-ever graphic novel, Marijuanaman.
More recently, Ziggy's youth-oriented pursuits have taken on a life of their own with a 2013 Emmy win for the song "I Love You Too" (as featured on Disney's 3rd & Bird), which has since been adapted into both a children’s book (Akashic Books, Tuff Gong Worldwide) and an interactive mobile app (Oceanhouse Media) of the same title.
And earlier this year, Marley took home his 6th GRAMMY award for the 2013 live album, Ziggy Marley In Concert. Now, with over 25 years refining his craft behind him, Ziggy is working to spread a message of love, determination and self-evolution with the release of his fifth solo studio album, Fly Rasta. Still in the top five on Billboard’s “Best Reggae Albums” chart over 30 weeks since its debut, Fly Rasta has been dubbed by fans and critics alike as his best effort to date. Marley has already taken home “Best Album” at the 2014 IRAWMA Awards, and the single “I Don’t Wanna Live On Mars” was nominated for “Best International Performance” at BET’s 2014 Soul Train Awards.
A man whose creative spirit and drive towards self-enlightenment seemingly haven’t slowed down since his youth, only time will tell what’s in store next for this incomparable Reggae icon.
