Michael A. Baruch, founder of Baruch Enterprises, is a businessman and Entrepreneur who has launched, spearheaded and/or consulted for many consumer brands including Fred Segal Beauty, Redbull, Wells Fargo Securities, DeLeon Tequila and Hautelook.
By the age of sixteen, while studying political science and business administration at UCLA, Baruch founded his first company, BPS, a parking management firm. What began in 1983 as a service employing just three attendants grew into a profitable business with over 150 employees and 40 locations by 1986.
In 1990, after graduating from UCLA and receiving his law degree from Northeastern University, Baruch sold his burgeoning business to the largest parking organization in the country. For his next venture, he pioneered an entirely new media concept referred to today as place-based media. Within a year, he brought his unique concept to life, and in 1991, Baruch launched Stopwatch Entertainment Network, a media company providing in-store entertainment programming and media placements in retail stores nationwide, such as Walmart, Sears, Circuit City, Footlocker and Blockbuster.
In 1997, Stopwatch was acquired by one of the largest media conglomerates in the country. In 1992, always in search of a challenge, Baruch saw opportunities in the beauty business and determined the industry as the arena for his next enterprise. With his friend Paul DéArmas and with the help of Fred Segal himself, Baruch developed the concept for Fred Segal Beauty.
Until 2010, as CEO, Baruch was responsible for creating the overall vision and determining the trajectory of the company and managed all aspects of marketing, specifically brand building and brand awareness and he initiated and developed partnership opportunities with appropriate companies/brands such as L'Oreal and Estee Lauder, established new markets, domestic and abroad, and acted as ambassador for Fred Segal Beauty by developing and maintaining relationships with clients and partners.
