This is an original art piece, handmade by the artist for the USTA’s Black Lives To The Front Original Art Exhibit at the 2020 US Open. This piece was displayed in the front row seats of Arthur Ashe Stadium at the 2020 US Open.
“For this piece I wanted to focus on Black joy. With Black representation there is often a hyperfocus on Black suffering which is an incomplete narrative. While creating this piece I thought not about the tear-jerking moments on the news or the constant timeline trauma, but all the moments in between. For this piece I wanted to create something that was fun to look at and fun to make.”….Liz Montague
