Description of piece:
Known as “Shop Till You Drop”, or “Falling Shopper”, it is a mural painted in November 2011 in broad daylight, located in London’s Mayfair district to point out the dangers of consumerism. It is one of the best-preserved pieces in London, because it is so high off the ground. Scaffolding and tarpaulins were used to make sure nobody caught the artist red-handed. Banksy’s Graffiti Art is the most extensive official photographic record of the original vandalism that’s defined the world-renowned artist’s career. Photographers from Banksy’s Graffiti’s Art were the first on the scene within hours of Banksy finishing his piece. Large format cameras were used to capture each Banksy work and express the full scope of Banksy’s art – the strategic location, the use of the wall he “writers” on and the way he plays with physical elements to construct a public statement. Over years, Banksy’s Graffiti Art accumulated a curation of native photographic files…forming the meticulous never-before-seen “Forever Collection” of high-quality Banksy Graffiti’s Art prints. Each Banksy’s Graffiti’s Art photographer was paid for each assignment, including the full ownership and copyright use of each image. This print was printed on Mohawk #115 Fine Art Paper with 5 to 9 colors of pantone ink and embossed with Banksy’s Graffiti Art official logo and comes with an authorized Certificate of Authenticity.
Artist bio:
Banksy is an anonymous graffiti artist who may have been born in Bristol, England. He came to notice as a freehand graffiti artist. Banksy displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls and self-built physical prop pieces. He is known for his anti-authoritarian art, often done in public places. With wry, wit and stealth, Banksy merged graffiti art with installation and performance art. The “street” is where Banksy made the world take notice. Each work was done on the fly, creeping around in the dark, getting paint on his hands and mud on his denims, carefully avoiding the police and the public.
