A seasoned entertainment industry veteran, Roy Bank formed Banca Studio in 2011, which develops and produces unscripted television for both network and cable. Since its inception, Banca Studio has created successful and critically acclaimed television series, first under an overall at Lionsgate Television, and more recently as an independent production company. Some of the highlights include the hit shows Deal With It! with Howie Mandel on TBS, Christina Milian Turned Up on E! and the Emmy-nominated Flea Market Flip on HGTV with Lara Spencer.
Prior to the formation of Banca Studio, Bank served as President of Television at Merv Griffin Entertainment, one of the industry’s most iconic and respected production companies. There, Bank led a resurgence of the revered Merv Griffin brand with shows like It’s Worth What? on NBC, Million Dollar Mind Game on ABC and the critically acclaimed The Mentor for Bloomberg Television.
Bank began fine-tuning the creative and leadership skills required to run a production company while serving for many years as Head of Development, Production and Corporate Operations for Mark Burnett Productions. While overseeing both the creative and operational side of the company, and reporting directly to Mark Burnett, some of the highlights on the programming side under Bank’s tenure include creating and producing Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? for FOX, creating and producing Amne$ia for NBC as well as launching/producing The Apprentice (and The Apprentice: Martha Stewart) for NBC, Rock Star: INXS for CBS, The Contender for NBC, The Restaurant for NBC, the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, Martha (which marked Martha Stewart’s return to daytime television in Syndication), as well as securing the rights to the format The Dragon’s Den which became Shark Tank on ABC. Bank’s strategic and creative choices while in his position at Mark Burnett Productions helped the company experience explosive growth, propelling him to be named one of The Hollywood Reporter’s “Next Generation Hollywood’s Top 35 Executives 35 and Under” in 2006.
