Brenda Romero has made an impact on both the video and board game industries; besides her work leading games in such series as Wizardry, Ghost Recon, and Dungeons & Dragons, Brenda is known for her critically acclaimed board game series, The Medium is the Message.
John Romero is an award-winning programmer, game designer and level designer whose work spans over 130 games, 108 of which have been published commercially. Romero is considered to be the "father of first person shooters" having led the design and contributed to the programming and audio design of the iconic and genre-defining games DOOM, Quake, Heretic and Hexen. Romero was also one of the earliest supporters of eSports and a professional-level DOOM and Quake player. To date, Romero has co-founded eight successful game companies including the likes of id Software, Gazillion Entertainment and most recently Romero Games in Galway, Ireland. He is considered to be among the world’s top game designers, and his products have won well over 100 awards. One of the earliest indie developers, Romero began working in the game space in 1979 on mainframes before moving to the Apple II in 1981. He is a completely self-taught programmer, designer and artist, having drawn his inspirations from early Apple II programmers.
Brenda Romero is a BAFTA award-winning game director, entrepreneur, and Fulbright award recipient and presently Studio Director of Romero Games. As a game developer, she has worked on 50 games and contributed to many seminal titles, including the Empire of Sin, Wizardry and Jagged Alliance series and titles in the Ghost Recon, Dungeons & Dragons and Def Jam franchises. During her career, she has published on every platform from current generation consoles to PC, mobile, handheld and browser-based markets and has broad experience in AAA, III, GaaS and premium and freemium games. As an entrepreneur, Romero brings experience founding both studios and franchises. In addition to founding Romero Games in 2015, Romero has co-founded and directed two other successful game companies. While continuing to develop games, Romero has also directed three masters programs in game development and design at University of Limerick, University of California at Santa Cruz and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Romero holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Communications from Clarkson University, a Master of Arts from National University of Ireland in Galway and is a PhD researcher at Trinity College Dublin.
