About Genie Bouchard
Genie Bouchard became a household name in 2014 when she made history as the first Canadian singles player, male or female, to be ranked in the top five in the world. That year, she reached two Grand Slam semifinals—at the Australian Open and the French Open—and became the first Canadian to compete in a Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, where she finished as a finalist. In addition to her impressive Grand Slam results, she captured her first WTA title in May 2014 at the Nürnberg Cup, further solidifying her place as one of the sport's rising stars.
Bouchard's remarkable 2014 season earned her several accolades, including the WTA’s Most Improved Player and the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award as Canadian Female Athlete of the Year, both of which she won in back-to-back years, having previously been named Newcomer of the Year in 2013. Her career high of No. 5 in the WTA rankings marked the pinnacle of a breakout year.
In addition to her tennis achievements, Genie has continued to excel in the world of pickleball. She has reached the semifinals at the PPA (Professional Pickleball Association) tournaments, showcasing her versatility and competitive spirit in a new sport.
Genie’s Pickleball Passion
More recently, Genie has taken the pickleball world by storm. After trying the sport casually, she became increasingly passionate about it, even competing at professional events. Genie has made a name for herself in the pickleball community, combining her elite tennis skills with the fast-paced, fun nature of the game. Her enthusiasm for pickleball has made her a rising star in the sport, and she loves sharing her newfound passion with others.
